In the Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Especially Merciful Ameena bint Abdir Rahman was born and raised in the Bay Area, and holds a B.S. in Computer Science. She began a more formal study of Islam after becoming a mother. After studying Hanafi Fiqh with Imam Tahir Anwar and Ustadha Shamira Chothia Ahmed at Zaytuna Institute in Hayward, California (before Zaytuna College) she received their permission to teach. Under the guidance of Imam Tahir and Ustadha Shamira, she has taught classes on the basics of Fiqh of Menstruation, Tahara (Purity), and Salah (Prayer) to youth and adult women privately in homes, and at various masajid. She has also taught Seerah (Life of Prophet Muhammad sallullahu 'alayhi wasallam ) and general Islamic Studies to young children.
Ameena has opened her home often for learning in a fun way. Children have done Islamic crafts on her dining table, learned fiqh in her living room and made wudu on her lawn. She has a great love for nature and her favorite places are the ocean and green walking trails with trees. In her spare time she loves learning, writing, and reflecting on the signs of Allah.
